The Cone of Silence

Pastor Rick Warren of the Saddleback Church held a nationally televised evangelical forum that involved the two Presidential candidates in separate interviews, back-to-back. This was done to reveal their religious natures (as if that needed to be done ). This Pastor Warren had crossed his heart and hoped to die, guaranteeing to his congregation, and all America, that McCain was placed in a cone-of-silence. That way, he would posses no unfair advantage hearing the questions an hour before he himself was to answer them. Obama was first; decided by a toss of the coin.

Now, we hear that there was no cone-of-silence; that, during Obama's interview, McCain was actually in his motorcade on his way to the event, amongst his campaign staff...so, the Pastor Warren's claim was an apparent lie. McCain wasn't even in the building. In the version that Warren goes by, he broke the eighth commandment... and they have probably already switched the coin with a real one.

Too bad this was not an event with broader informative implications. It could have been so much more than what it pretended to be... To be fair and not so balanced (check out the comments)...Instead, the cone-of-silence was brought down on us all.
